Your free, no-obligation home survey

If you've been considering a stairlift but want to know more about your options, the first step is to arrange a free consultation.

We will visit at a time that suits you, take measurements, and talk you through the options that fit your staircase and your budget. There’s no obligation to go ahead, and no sales pressure.

The survey typically takes around 30 minutes. We’ll look at the shape and layout of your staircase, discuss whether new or reconditioned suits your needs, and answer any questions you have about the process.

If anything about your staircase is unusual or you’ve had quotes elsewhere that raised concerns, we’re happy to go through those too. We’ve yet to find a staircase we couldn’t work with.

Once we’ve seen everything, we’ll give you a fixed written quote before we leave. Most customers are booked in within a few days of getting in touch.

How much does a stairlift cost with installation?

If a stairlift could improve life in your Swindon home, arrange a free consultation with our friendly team.

Stairlift cost with installation in the UK typically ranges from around £1,200 – £4,500 for a straight stairlift to approximately £3,000 – £12,000 for a curved model. Installation is always included in the price we quote, and there are no hidden extras.

The factors that affect the final cost are the type of staircase (straight or curved), the stairlift model you choose, and whether you opt for new or reconditioned ones. We’ll go through all of this with you during the free home survey.

Our full stairlift cost guide covers pricing in detail, including what’s included and what can affect your quote. You may be eligible for stairlift funding or stairlift grants, so we recommend reading our funding a stairlift guide to learn more.

The stairlift installation process

We understand that once you’ve decided to have a stairlift installed, you’ll be eager to have it operational as soon as possible.

Most standard straight stairlifts can be installed in half a day. Curved stairlifts take a little longer because the rail is custom-made to your staircase, but we’ll always give you a realistic timescale at the survey stage. Here is what to expect at each stage:

1. Installing the stairlift

First, the rail will be attached to the treads of the stairs, then the seat and carriage components will be securely mounted onto the track. Once installed, we’ll connect the stairlift to your home’s power supply, ensuring it operates smoothly and reliably.

2. Testing

Most important is the comprehensive testing procedure and safety checks that our expert stairlift engineers carry out before they sign off the installation. Then they will meticulously clean up any mess they have made in the installation process.

3. Tutorial

The final step is to make sure that you are 100% happy with your stairlift and fully confident about how to operate it. We give you all the tuition and instruction you need to use the lift and remote control and understand the battery charger. We’ll also show you how to clean and maintain your stairlift equipment.

4. Comprehensive aftercare

Our commitment doesn't end at installation. We're available 24/7 on 01666 822 060 for any questions or emergency call-outs. We also offer annual stairlift servicing and can repair any make or model, not just those we installed.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a stairlift cost with installation in the UK?

The cost of a stairlift varies depending on whether your staircase is straight or curved, and whether you choose new or reconditioned. Straight stairlifts typically range from £1,200-£4,500, while curved stairlifts range from £3,750–£12,000. We always provide a fixed written quote before any work begins with no hidden extras. The survey visit is free. To learn more about stairlift costs, you can read our article here.

A straight stairlift takes two to four hours to install. Curved stairlifts take longer because the rail is custom-bent to your staircase, but most are completed in a single day. We run a full safety check and walk you through the controls before we leave. We’ll always give you a realistic timescale when we visit for the survey. To learn more, read our guide on what to expect when your stairlift is installed.

Yes. At Simply Stairlifts, the cost of stairlift installation is included in the purchase price and carried out by our trained professionals.

We install stairlifts on curved staircases, narrow stairs, stairs with intermediate landings, and split-level layouts. For curved staircases, the rail is custom-bent to fit your specific staircase geometry. The home survey is where we work out exactly what’s needed. We’ll never quote for work until we’ve seen the staircase in person. We haven’t yet found one we couldn’t fit.

New Homeglide stairlifts include a 12-month parts and labour warranty. Reconditioned stairlifts carry a six-month warranty. All customers have access to our 24-hour emergency helpline on 01666 822 060. We also offer annual servicing and can repair any brand of stairlift, not just those we’ve installed.

Yes. Straight staircases are straightforward. For curved, narrow, or irregular staircases, we use a custom-built rail measured precisely to your staircase during the home survey. We cover all staircase types, including those with intermediate landings or unusual layouts, and we’ve not come across one we couldn’t accommodate.

Modern stairlifts are quiet and energy-efficient. The average modern stairlift uses only around 24-35 watts of energy per hour, which is less than most common household appliances. To learn more about the electricity costs of a stairlift, read our article here.

We install and service stairlifts across the South West of England, including Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Bristol, and Bath. Brian and Jack carry out all surveys and installations personally. Call 01666 822 060 to confirm we cover your area, or see our local pages for Bath, Bristol, Gloucester, Swindon, and Wiltshire.
