Stairlift repairs quickly and efficiently
It’s unlikely, if you keep your stairlift regularly maintained and serviced as you should, that it will break down unexpectedly. However, we all know that nothing is infallible, and having your stairlift let you down is not only inconvenient but can also impact on your independence, confining you to a single floor in your home.
If your stairlift does stop working, you’ll want it to be repaired as soon as possible. Here at Simply Stairlifts we operate a free 24-hour helpline. When your lift stops in its tracks and you can’t figure out what the problem is, you can call us on 01666 822060, and we’ll talk you through some simple checks and advise you on how to rectify the fault. If this doesn’t work, we will book you in for a priority stairlift repair.
We also offer a stairlift removal service if you have a lift installed that is no longer required. We will remove it no matter how old or what condition it is in, and either dispose of it responsibly, or buy it from you if we deem it still usable.

Before you call us in to repair your stairlift, there are some common causes for stairlift malfunctions that you can check for yourself, and perhaps find a simple solution.
These include:
- Check that the power supply is plugged in. Often the plug is pulled accidentally by a cleaner or carer when the socket is needed for some other appliance. Also check that the socket itself is working.
- Have you turned the key switch properly? Or perhaps a child or visitor has fiddled with it and turned it off.
- Are any relevant switches on the chair arms or control unit in the “on” position?
- Make sure the swivel seat is in the correct position.
- Check that there are no obstructions on the staircase or in the path of the stairlift, which would trigger the stairlift safety sensor and cause it to stop.
If it is obvious that despite all your efforts the stairlift is not working properly, if it makes unusual noises when operating, or if it has a diagnostic display panel which is warning of a fault, then you will need to give us a call to assist.

Rental Stairlifts
Only need a lift for a short amount of time?
Rental lifts can be hired for a few days or for as long as you require. Our rental packages include everything you need from the initial survey, instillation and removal when the lift is no longer required. You will also receive annual services and a full warranty for the duration of the rental period.
Reconditioned Stairlifts
All our reconditioned lifts are comprehensively checked and serviced, and come with a 1-year warranty as standard with the option to purchase an extended or upgraded warranty.
